Process Water
Process water can be part of the product e.g. pharmaceuticals, food industry, etc. In these instances, poor water treatment can cause defective products.

Many techniques are used in process water treatment such as "Demineralization, Reverse Osmosis systems" according to the industrial needs.

Demineralization
Water, even if it's occurring in nature, consists of lot of minerals which can harm industrial pipes, boilers etc by causing corrosion, scale building, spotting on finished surfaces, precipitation in chemical products and other related problems. The demineralizer is designed to sort out these problems.

Demineralization process uses both cation and anion exchangers in single and dual – process. Positively charged ions are removed by the cation bed whereas negatively charged ions are removed by the anion beds. Depending on the composition of Feed water, the resin bed is chosen.

Demineralization isn't applied in municipal water but it is extensively used in industry to produce high quality water.

Reverse Osmosis
Reverse osmosis is the forced passage of water through semi- permeable TFC membrane against the natural osmotic pressure to accomplish separation of water & ions.

The RO process  used after pretreatment step to remove & reject up to 99% of impurities & contaminants from water such as ( iron , lead , nitrate , magnesium, copper , sodium , bacteria , viruses & much more can be eliminated using only water pressure.

Optionally for complete disinfection ultra-violet lamp is used to insure the removal of any microbes that may escape filtering by the reverse osmosis membrane.

A pre-treatment of water entering the membrane is a must to prepare water physically to enter the Reverse Osmosis stage and to protect the membrane.

The RO membrane does not necessarily guarantee the removal of cysts and pathogens from water. Effective cyst and pathogen reduction is dependent on an adequate disinfection according to the purpose of water usage.

Ultra pure water
Several water systems are designed to produce ultra pure water. Some can operate directly from tap (potable) water and others from feed water in industrial needs" Electrodialysis-ionexchange, mixed bed ion exchange and ultra filtrations units ".

The selection of the proper ultra pure water system for industrial and laboratory needs depend on several parameters such as, feed water conditions, instant and daily volumes needs of ultra pure water or ultra pure and pure water, and several other points.

Electrodialysis - Ion exchange
The Electrodialysis - Ion exchange (EDIX) process. Is a process that combines electrodialysis and ion exchange in one-step.

EDIX should be capable of processing in one step a variety of aqueous streams, even those Containing high levels of dissolved salts EDIX is a simple one-step operation that can yield a high-purity product stream and two very small secondary streams that contain the hazardous or radioactive anions and cations.

By proper selection of the resins and membranes, and by effective operation of the unit, it should be possible to produce water that meets drinking water standards, a small stream containing the anions as acids, and a small stream containing the cations as hydroxides. Depending on the composition of the feed water stream, it should be possible to utilize the anion and cation streams rather than to consider them as waste.

Mixed Bed Ion Exchange
Ion exchange is a well established method for purifying water by trading ions in solution with ions held on resin reaction sites.
Mixed Bed Ion Exchangers contain a precise mixture of cation and anion resin. Cation resin exchanges hydrogen (H+) for cations (i.e. sodium), while anion resin exchanges hydroxyl (OH-) for anions (i.e. chloride). Hydrogen and hydroxide combine to form water, thereby purifying the incoming water.

Mixed resin beds generate higher water quality (depending on feed water quality) than is achievable by conventional two bed ion exchange.

Ultra filtration (UF)
Ultra filtration (UF) system is a pressure-driven barrier to suspended solids, bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens to produce water with very high purity and low silt density. It serves as a pretreatment for surface water, seawater, and biologically treated municipal effluent before reverse osmosis and other membrane systems. The smaller the nominal pore size of the membrane, the higher the removal capability of bacteria and most viruses.

UF is used in industry to separate suspended solids from solution.
Industrial applications include power generation, food processing, pharmaceutical production, biotechnology, and semiconductor manufacturing. Ultra filtration systems consistently deliver water to meet your specifications.
